Social media marketing is my favorite method to building my business online for many different reasons. I’m a very social person for one, so it’s easy for me to connect with and talk to other people. The results are almost Immediate in comparison to a lot of other free marketing methods. Oh yeah, and IT’S FREE! Social Media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace allow us to connect with hundreds and thousands of New People Every Single Day. These are just a few of the reasons why I absolutely Love Social Media Marketing for my business building method.
Now let me share with you a few downfalls to social media, and how we can solve these problems very easily. When you set up an account with a social media site, or any site for that matter, YOU DON’T OWN IT. These sites Can and WILL Shut You Down if They Don’t Like What You’re Doing. I’ve had my Facebook account shut down 3 times in less than 5 months, and at the time it was devastating, because I didn’t have anything else in place. I’ve since learned my lesson with Facebook and have not had problems in over 8 months.
This is where blogging and social media together absolutely solves that problem. When you have your own blog, and I’m not talking about a blogspot.com blog or a blogger.com blog, You CAN’T Get Shut Down. Having your very own self-hosted wordpress.org blog is the way to go. If you’re unsure what that means, take a step back and look at my blog that you’re on right now. This is my site with my own domain name, and I can and will put whatever I want on here with no threat of being closed down ever. (if you want to set your own self-hosted blog up, I will show you how in my 8-day bootcamp)
What exactly does blogging allow you to do with social media?
I’m going to bring the example from George Fourie, creator of thatMLMbeat.com, on the training call we had with him last night about blogging. Social Media is “the Party”. When you’re at a party and you meet someone for the first time, you wouldn’t tell them to join your business opportunity before getting to know them on a personal level. Well, maybe you would, in which case you would want to get your Attraction Marketing Blueprint before you go any further. The point is that when you’re at a party, you want to get to know the person, and possibly invite them to a gathering at your house (your blog), before a business opportunity is even mentioned. Your blog is your central hub between all of your social media networks, and is the place where you will solidify trust and build relationships with all of these people you meet.
Your blog will showcase your talent, knowledge, and everything about you and your business. When a Facebook friend or a Twitter follower comes to your blog, they should be able to learn something useful for their business for FREE. When you give away tons of Valuable Content for FREE, your followers will continue to come back to your blog and solidify their trust in you along with your mutual relationship. One other thing to make very clear is sharing blog posts on social media is much more accepted by people who don’t yet know you than sharing capture page links or business opportunities. Here’s exactly how I Generate Blog Traffic from Facebook groups.
Remember that Social Media Marketing is all about building relationships, and there’s no better way to get someone to trust you than to give them valuable content for FREE and show them Results.

Your absolutely right Jordan. Having a central HUB that you have complete control over not only is a smart move concerning your business, it allows you to sleep at night.
Putting all that hard work into creating great content and then losing it all can be INCREDIBLY frustrating. Sites like Facebook and Twitter are great for building rapport and sending traffic to your blog but they shouldn't be relied on for your sole internet presence. You never know how they will slap you next…
Note to readers: Jordan's Bootcamp is awesome! It is PACKED with incredibly useful information. Be prepared to use the pause button when your going through it.
Chuck,
I'm sure you know someone, maybe even yourself who has been slapped by one of these other sites and had your account shut down with all of your content… Terrible stuff.
Great post Jordan, you are so right about social media being a party, i wonder how many people on these sites would pitch their opportunity at a party.I guess they thinks it's OK to do as they can hide behind their computer.
I know what it's like to get your account closed down, had it done to me twice but have been OK for 10 months. The trick is to treat Facebook with respect and spread your work over the day. Worked for me so far.
Looking forward to your next post.
