As we all know, there are many concepts, techniques, lessons and whatever else you’d like to call them, that we have to learn in this industry to survive.  In my opinion, if we don’t first understand these 5 basic fundamentals, then we’ll never survive in this industry.  These fundamentals are something that I lost sight of in the beginning, and it wasn’t until I actually went back and reviewed these basic principles that I started seeing the results that I wanted from my business.

Fundamental 1- study and understand attraction marketing completely!!  The whole idea of attraction marketing is really simple.  Become a leader, and people will naturally want to follow you.  It doesn’t matter if you’re marketing online or offline, people only want to work under leaders who can “Lead them to Success”! Don’t worry if you’re not in the position of a leader yet, it takes time to become a leader!

How do you become a leader? There is a very simple answer to that, you find a teacher or teachers, and you start learning as much as you possibly can.  Start very simply with one or two areas of marketing, and learn everything you can about those 2 areas.  Once you have acquired all of your knowledge, you now become the teacher.  Now that you are the teacher, start sharing that knowledge with people who will then become your students!  You are now a leader!

Fundamental 2- Personal Development- the key to success in your life period.  Personal development could be anything from reading some of a book each day, learning a new method of marketing, or studying someone else’s business plan.  Your main goal as a leader is to become more valuable to your students.  Especially in this industry, knowledge is Power.

Fundamental 3- Exercise and Fitness- I know it doesn’t seem to have a connection with network marketing, but maintaining your body is very important to your success in all aspects of your life.  When you wake up in the morning, take your dog for a walk/run, and you’ll have more energy throughout the day, which will maintain your focus on your work.  Keeping yourself energized will keep your mind energized as well.

Fundamental 4- Telephone Time- Although we are told that we can build a business on auto-pilot, and that we don’t absolutely have to talk on the phone to make sales, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you spend some time on the phone with your prospects.  This business is all about building relationships with your customers and team members.  If you find yourself fearing the phone, and not being able to get over that fear, then I have one suggestion for you!  Read Black-Belt-Recruiting!

You should be spending at least 30-90 minutes per day on the phone training your team or talking to new prospects.  Without that personal touch from you, people will not be as likely to join your opportunity.  Remember that people are looking for someone they can connect with, and someone that is able to help them through this process of becoming an internet marketer.  You have to connect with them!

I can tell you from personal experience, with my first 150 leads I generated for my business, that I waited so long to contact them, that by the time I did get on the phone with them they had no clue what I was talking about, and had long-since moved on to the next opportunity.  Whatever you have to do to get over your fear of talking on the phone, you must do it!  I promise you, the more you do talk on the phone, the easier it will become.

Fundamental 5- Family Time- This right here is probably one of your biggest reasons why you wanted to join network marketing in the first place, I know it was for me.  I know it is very easy to get caught up in the world wide web, and spend a whole day on your computer without even thinking about stopping to talk with loved ones or friends, but it is absolutely necessary for your own mental health that you do not neglect them!  I also know that it never feels like you’re going to get everything done that needs to be done, but I can promise you that if you plan your time wisely on the computer you will get it all done!  Don’t forget about the reason why we’re all here in the first place; Freedom.

If you spend your time following these fundamentals in your day to day life, I promise you that your business will achieve the success you want it to.  Schedule your time to get all of these accomplished every day!  As I mentioned earlier, when I started following these basic principles, I started achieving the success I wanted!  Words can’t describe how good that feels to be doing what I want, and getting the results I want at the same time!
