Realize The Network Marketing Leader Inside Of Yourself

by jordan on July 22, 2010

I’m writing this post because I’ve been doing private coaching sessions with a lot of different people over the past few months, and I’ve realized that the people who’ve been in or around this industry for more than a few months have the same block.  They’re putting in long hours every day, and connecting with a lot of people, but they’re blocking themselves from achieving success.  They get inside of their head too much.  I’m going to tell you exactly what the block is, and how to get over it NOW!

First off, I want to preface that starting your own business is entirely different from a J.O.B. in every aspect.  No one is going to be there to make sure you’re getting done what you need to get done on a daily basis.  That’s not to say that the help and guidance isn’t there for you, but you have to seek it out.  Your upline truly wants you to succeed, but they more than likely have a ton of other people under them and don’t have the time to check in on you and make sure you’re doing what you need to.

What I like to do with my sponsor is contact him and tell him whenever something really big happens in my business. (if you don’t believe me, scroll down and watch the first testimonial in the right side-bar with Brian Fanale) Now this entirely depends on where you’re at, but e-mail them when you get your first lead… your first 10 leads… your first affiliate commission… your first member signup and so on.  Let them know that you’re achieving results, and they’ll give you the support you need.   They’ll also motivate you even further when this happens, which is one of the biggest reasons a lot of people have a mental block.

I’ve come to realize that although some of the people I’ve been coaching have achieved success,, they don’t see it that way because no one has actually told them they’re on the right track.  They still have the J.O.B. mentality, and that’s ok.  It takes a minute to get over.  The way I judge my success is if I’m consistently growing and moving forward by any measurement. (leads, traffic, conversions, member signups, affiliate sales, etc…)

Now I’m going to move on to the point that I really wanted to make with this post here… I had someone tell me that they felt they had  a ton of great information to share with people, in fact they had it all put together… the only thing they didn’t do was publish it and let people know about it, because they weren’t sure if it was good enough.

They were concerned specifically because they said to me, “you look and sound so confident in your videos and your blog posts”… I replied, “Some of those 5 minute videos took me an hour of research and multiple recordings before I got the steps right in my how-to videos… It was simply a matter of I knew it was good information to share, and I did my due diligence to portray like I was an expert to my viewers”.

You’re a Leader the second you decide to be a leader…

Being a leader isn’t easy, but it’s certainly rewarding and fun once other people realize you are a leader.  You don’t have to say you’re a leader; you simply have to prove it.

So Here’s my real point of all of this… Don’t wait for someone else to tell you you’re on the right trackDon’t wait to decide to become a leader and share all of that valuable information you have inside of you.  Be a leader, and do whatever you feel it is you’re supposed to do… Mess up a bunch of times, and move forward.  Get out of that J.O.B. mentality, and step into being an entrepreneur.  You know you want it, and more importantly YOU DESERVE IT.

Hi Jordan,

Sensational stuff here, thanks for sharing.

My blockages come up frequently. The tiny chatter starts up each time I make a new breakthrough. Thank goodness I keep going :)

To become the person you want to be, you must be that person now. Believe in yourself and move into action today!

Great info Jordan, you are so right. Get over the J.O.B mentality. We just need to learn and trust yourself what should be done and do it. Maybe not be the right action each time, but at least we take acton and learn from our mistake.

Hi Jordan,

awesome insight into the right mindset. As someone said, an entrepreneur or leader does the right things, a manager or employee does the things right – because they are afraid of making mistakes and eventually being fired. The trouble with doing things right is that you can do the wrong things right…

So you’re right, a leader doesn’t need constant approval that he or she is on track. He or she seeks it out by getting their stuff (videos, posts…) out to the marketplace and receiving tons of feedback, good or bad, for it.

Great post, thanks for sharing.

Take care

Oliver

Hey Jordan,

This was really motivational. A lot of people, including myself sometimes, still have the J.O.B. mentality and that’s the one thing that holds us back. It’s tough sometimes to think differently, but we just have to be like Nike and “Just Do It!!”. Otherwise we would just be in wonder about if we would have done what we should’ve of done, would we have become successful. I myself wouldn’t have want to be on wonder like that. Thanks for sharing!!!

Hi Jordan,

I can relate to this post, getting out of JOB mentality can be hard for some people but once through it it’s like an open road. Also the thing with posting content is just to start posting it. I have written some blog post and thought they were crap but posted them anyway and got great feedback.

Thanks for sharing this insight.

I like how you said you're a leader the second you decide to be a leader. I actually wrote a similar blog post today saying that the leaders of our industry are ordinary people. The real difference between a leader and someone who is not, is their desire to succeed, their experience, and the training they have gone through. People need to stop separating themselves from the leaders or they'll never become one.

Awesome advice Jordan. Everybody can be a leader but only when the claim this for themselves.

Hi Jordan,
Making that decision to become a leader is a pivotal moment for anyone aspiring to be an entrepreneur, especially in a field like Network Marketing.

For some of us, namely me, the realization that all it takes is to make that decision was like a slap in the face it was sudden!

Good lesson :)

Cheers
John

That's absolutely great Jordan! Sending an email and celebrating with your sponsor is one of the best things anyone could have access to. Celebrating alone is not FUN!! hahahaha and I'm betting
many do this.

You are so right. This is one of the BEST ALL TIME TIPS of the year!!

I totally agree with you Jordan.

We all have lies that we tell our selves in our minds that we're not good enough, capable enough, or we don't know enough to be the leader we want to become. I just wrote a post about the impostor syndrome that many marketers face, where they don't feel like they are “qualified” yet to do what they want to do. I have found for myself, knowing that I had helpful information to share, that when I put my focus on how that information can serve others, I can push past my feelings of insecurity and play a bigger game.

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Hey Jordan

The thing that struck me was when you wrote : “the only thing they didn’t do was publish it and let people know about it, because they weren’t sure if it was good enough”

We all suffer from this little negative thought in the back of our heads,

When it happens to me I just tell myself “Just do it”

Thanks for the great read Jordan.

Hi Jordan, thanks for sharing your experience..
I can relate to it, from the view of lead, since I remember all the blocks I had and still have at some points and from the view of leader who deals with other people's fears and blocks.. They simply have to understand 1 simple rule – start, take action with whatever you have, just let it out and do it!

I wish you to continue achieving great success
and keep all of us inspired and motivated..

I like quoting the guy from P90X… ” I presently Struggle with…” which means I’m working on it, I’m moving towards my goal, but nothings getting in my way.

That’s just it Ryan,

You’re going to have that happen, where you doubt yourself, and it’s going to happen when you’re doing things you never knew you could do. That’s where the true leaders break though and move on, and the wanna-bes struggle, and fall behind.

You’re a leader man..

Jordan Schultz August 28, 2010 at 3:27 AM

Beautifully said Kin Lau,

May not be right, but we learn from our mistakes. That’s all we can do. we can’t be right every single time.

Jordan Schultz August 28, 2010 at 3:28 AM

You can’t please everyone every time… getting positive and negative feedback allows you to get different information out for your other half of the audience in the future.

I’m going to quote my dad Sherman,

Tristram,

You always have to realize that you’re more critical of your work than anyone else will ever be, but it’s going to be the golden nuggets inside what we think is crap that helps someone else succeed.
