Earlier today a good friend and student of mine asked me when it’s a good time to make money selling information…

She asked me over on my “Ask Jordan” tab on my blog, because I truly want to know how to best serve you, my audience to get your business in profit as fast as you can.  So today I’m going to share some of my personal insights and beliefs into when you should give away your information for free and when you should make money selling information.

Before I answer this question I’d like to tell you a little bit of a story.  Back when I got started with attraction marketing I believed I had to give everything away for free, and that the only thing I could charge money for was other people’s information because I lacked belief in the value of what I knew and what I was teaching.

Then one night I was on a myleadsystempro Wednesday webinar with Daegan Smith where he was teaching us how to make money selling webinars.  (I don’t mean selling something on a webinar, but rather make money selling information that you’re going to teach on a private webinar)

So I followed his step-by-step plan to make money selling information of my own, and we actually made somewhere around $800 selling a single webinar.  The best part is not the $800 but the fact that my now good friend Tom Merkey told me he was excited that I was finally ready to make money selling information rather than just giving it all away for free.

So in answer to your question Nicky, when is it alright to make money selling information??

It’s alright to make money selling information as soon as you want your followers to start being serious about following you and listening to you.  It’s great to give away free information all day long… I do it, and so should you.

The truth of the matter is that people are more committed when they pay for something, especially if they’re on a tight budget.  The real question to ask yourself is “Does what I’m teaching have the potential to make this person more money then they’re paying to learn it from me provided they take action?”

**notice I underlined “provided they take action”, because most people will buy something then never get the intended result due to lack of action on their part, and you have to be ok with knowing that.

When you decide to make money selling information, you’ll be doing your list, your followers, and your students a HUGE FAVOR because they will be more committed to learning what you’re teaching once they pay you for it.  Your list will actually appreciate it when you decide to make money selling information because you’re their leader, and they too want to make money selling information, and if you’re brand new…

…start here by offering other people’s information and training until you’re ready to make money selling information of your own!

99% or more of the people who get exposed to your network marketing business opportunity won’t join you, which is why you want to know how to get more people to join your network marketing business…

… of the 1% or less that do get exposed to your opportunity, they will not join you right away.  In fact they will most likely tell you “no” in some form. 

1. They’re not ready to join now…
2. They don’t have the money…
3. They have to think about it…
4. They need to understand everything about it before they take action…
5. They have to check with their wife, their neighbor, the mailman, their boss to see what they think about the opportunity…
6. Or any other reasons they can think of to not join right away…

You see most people take a long time to make a $200-$500 simple business decision when they will spend that much money on a night on the town without even thinking twice, and what they don’t realize is that by taking forever to make a simple decision like this, they will also attract other people who take a long time to act as well…

…so the solution is to start being more decisive right now!  If something feels right, act on it immediately and figure out how to make it work for you along the way. 

Anyways, I used to struggle to get more people to join my network marketing business, and then I learned the real secret to getting more people to SAY YES and JOIN NOW!

Before I tell you what the secret is, I want to explain how I used to react when people didn’t join me and what I believed was the right way to go.

I believe it was mostly out of arrogance that I acted and thought this way, although now I realize that it was just plain ignorance… I would get someone onto a presentation, whether we had connected online through my attraction marketing funnel, or just somehow connected… then when I followed up, if they did not join me right away that’s where I stopped, because…

…I believed people should just join right away or they weren’t worth the time to talk to again.  Funny I believed that because I didn’t join right away.  It took me 6 months before I jumped all the way in.  So then one day I watched a video by Darren Little about multiple exposures, and that’s when he revealed the secret to me. 

The secret is that most people will not join any opportunity until after 5-7 exposures. 

What is considered an exposure??

-          Reading a pamphlet or brochure

-          listening to an audio cd

-          reviewing a video about the company

-          attending a live event

-          a 3-way call with your upline

-          a live webinar presentation of your company

An exposure is basically anything that gives them a little bit more exposure to your company, the products, the team, etc…

So now that you know “the secret” you don’t have to feel like a loser when people don’t join your opportunity on the first exposure, and when you’re ready to learn the secret of getting multiple exposures the automated way…

I hear that a lot from quite a few different people, and I can almost always pinpoint the reason to what I talk about in the video down below.

The thing is this whole internet marketing thing isn’t really that much different from offline marketing, it’s just usually cheaper and can be much more effective for the amount of effort you put in.  It’s still just a way to get people in front of a business opportunity presentation and onto the phone with you.  

So here’s the thing, when I hear people tell me they tried internet marketing or have been with MLSP for 6 months and haven’t generated leads or gotten anywhere, it’s usually 1 of 3 things maybe both of these occurring.  

1. They’re not following a mentor who is leading them.

2. They haven’t actually put in any time or effort to move forward.

3. They have studied and studied and studied and studied… but never implemented what they’ve been learning.

This process is simple… don’t over-complicate it.  Attraction Marketing works, and you don’t have to understand the full concepts of why it works, just know that when you start teaching people marketing strategies, they will opt-in to your websites for more information.

Today I’m going to teach you how to use attraction marketing to build your mlm business effectively.

The ultimate goal of being in network marketing is to make money by signing up new mlm distributors and selling more products.  These are the only 2 ways that this goal will be achieved.  While selling the products will make you some money, you’re much better off when your team sells products and you make money off of all of their sales.  So, it is essential that you learn how to turn complete strangers into your mlm distributors using attraction marketing.

I have comprised a 6 step process for building a relationship with complete strangers, turning them into friends, and ultimately turning them into an mlm distributor on your personal team.  It is very important that you follow these steps in order.  Mixing them up in any way will certainly result in failure.  Also note that the key to your success with this process is in not trying to get them to do something they don’t want to do.  This entire process is created out of an attraction marketing blueprint.  Focus on building the relationship and giving value and you will sign up mlm distributors when you follow these 6 steps.

1. Create awareness of you and your services- The first step in this process is to let everyone in the market place know that you and your products exist.  You will have to learn how to market online in order to get yourself in front of your target audience.  There are various methods by which you can advertise yourself all over the internet.  Study them and choose the one that works best with your personality and skill sets.  Then go out there and market the fact that you have a solution to internet marketers specific problems.  The more specific you get, the more likely you are to attract people to you.

2. Provide value and showcase talent for free- This is “the key” to attraction marketing.  You must show people what you’re worth to them before they will even think about working with you.  A lot of people are uncertain of what kind of value they can provide, and I always tell them that education is the best value out there.  You don’t have to give away free products or anything like that.  What a lot of veteran network marketers will do is put together an training boot-camp that they give away for free in exchange for the prospects contact information.  This is a great way to generate leads.  One thing to make certain is that your free value is actually valuable.  In fact, it is better to over deliver on your free content so that your prospect is left wondering what they would get when they actually buy something from you.

This is where you start to make money with attraction marketing.

3. Make an offer that will cost your prospect money- As long as you’ve shared extremely valuable content for free, your prospect should now trust you enough that when you offer something that they have to pay for, they will gladly buy it from you as long as it is congruent with what they’re already learning from you.  This is where I like to offer MLMLeadSystem Pro’s $29 30-day trial, my personal Attraction Marketing Blueprint.  It wouldn’t be a good idea to jump from free to something that would cost upwards of a few hundred dollars just like that.  At this point in the game if my prospect doesn’t trust me enough to spend $29 with me, then that would probably mean that I need to offer more valuable information on the front-end for free.  If this is the case, then it is recommended that you go back and rethink what you’re giving your prospects for free so that it literally blows them away when they get it from you.  You have to make a great first impression with your content that you’re sharing.  This is what’s going to make your prospects trust you.

4. Over-deliver again…by inviting them to something special- At this point in the game your prospect has trusted you enough to make a small purchase from you.  That shows that they’re at least willing to open their wallets and give you money, which is a huge step.  You want to make sure that they realize how wise of a business decision that was for them to spend money with you by giving them something from you that the product or the system doesn’t have.  You could put together a Google group, or hold a weekly Skype group chat, where you and your team would get together and share value.  Inviting your new customers into the group will make them feel more welcome and more a part of a team rather than just your customer.  This is extremely important if you want to work your new customer up to the level of eventually buying high-priced products from you or joining you in your primary business opportunity.

5. Offer your customer a higher-priced item- This might be selling your products or it might be getting them to join your primary business.  This will only be an option in their mind after they see that you’re someone who they should trust when it comes to business and internet marketing.  This is why it is so important to over-deliver on all of the steps in the process, and really make sure that you make yourself such a valuable commodity to your prospects and customers that they wouldn’t think of doing business with anyone else before they consulted you about it.  When you can get people to this stage of trusting you, you will be able to dominate in any company that you choose to join.  Also, when it comes time and your customers are asking you about your business opportunity, have them visit your website and go through the process their first.  The presentation will be much more effective than you explaining everything will be, so let your systems do the work for you.  This is the reason we love having all these different systems online anyways.  Don’t ever beg anyone to join your opportunity.  You should have done such an amazing job in the first 4 steps that you’ve already proven yourself.

6. Rinse and repeat daily!!! Do not think that you can do this a few times and achieve lasting success with your business.  You must work hard every single day.  Consistency is absolutely the key to success with anything in life, and your business is no different.  Along the way, you’ll come up with easier methods, or more suitable methods for you personally, which is where the “rinse” part comes into play.  Customize this process so that it works for you and your business.  Someone who is not willing to lead by example and dedicate their livelihood to building a massive money making business should not expect their followers to want to dedicate themselves either.  We attract who we are, which means we should become what we want to attract to us.

Always make sure and over-deliver value at every step in the attraction marketing process.  When you give more than what your prospect or customer was expecting, then they are going to love buying from you.  Ultimately, the more they love buying from you, the better chance there is for them to want to join your primary company.  Anyone who isn’t willing to put in the time and effort to build a business is not someone you want joining your team.  Letting someone join you in your business opportunity is not just a paycheck; they are becoming a team member.  A team member is someone who you have to help, which is why you want to make sure that you’re signing up people who are strong willed and self-motivated.

I’m writing this brief post just to share some of my experiences since I first learned the “Secrets” of Attraction Marketing. The truth is… These really aren’t secrets at all. These strategies have been used for years to get people to buy products. Attraction Marketing is simply the process of sharing something for free to get the prospect to trust that what they will purchase will be worth it. Knowing that this is the process, you will start to realize that a lot of so-called “attraction marketers” really don’t know what they’re doing.

I’ve been studying this technique for almost a year now, and I’ve been paying especially close attention to the people that are utilizing it and achieving success with it. I visit their blogs, read their advertisements, and even signed up for their trainings. The one thing I realized was that the people who were achieving results were actually sharing knowledge and content rather than just promoting the concept of attraction marketing. A lot of people think that they can simply share an attraction marketing book or an attraction marketing system with other people without actually giving away quality knowledge that will help the person for free. The reality is that when these people are running around and shoving their attraction marketing books or attraction marketing systems in everyone’s faces, they’re no better off than when they were doing the same thing with their business opportunity.

A lot of people are skeptical as to whether or not attraction marketing really works, and I have to say that these are probably the reasons why people will claim it doesn’t work. They’re not implementing the techniques properly. They’re not actually taking the time to study network marketing and then share the knowledge that they’ve gained. The reality is that that is all there is to it. You must first become a student of whatever you want to teach, and then you can teach it. It’s also a good idea to share the principles of attraction marketing, but do so in the form of an article or a blog post, and then have a link to your attraction marketing system or your attraction marketing book. Do not simply tell everyone you meet that your system or book will change their network marketing business when you don’t even know them.

Does attraction marketing really work?

The reason that I wrote this article today, is because I wanted to share some recent instances that happened to me because I am utilizing the principles of attraction marketing properly. I’m receiving e-mails on a daily basis asking for my assistance. I’m getting friend requests on Facebook asking for my help. I have people joining my team without ever speaking to me in person. Oh yeah, and I’m generating 10-20 leads per day for FREE. Here are 2 examples of friend requests I received just today.

I’m sure you’ve heard about attraction marketing, and hopefully by now you have a pretty good idea what it is.  Attraction Marketing has been used in every area of life since the beginning of time!  Whether someone was sharing knowledge, selling a product, etc… they were using attraction marketing methods to filter through the people and to get the right people listening to them or buying from them.  That being said, attraction marketing is not new to life, just maybe to you!  Here are 3 steps to Attraction Marketing Wisdom!  

Step 1- You must first think about what you’re marketing!  What kind of person do you want to attract to you?  Once you decide who you want to attract to your product, you will then know what kind of knowledge you should be sharing to attract them!

Step 2- You’ve figured out what kind of knowledge you should be sharing, so obviously your next step is going to be learning all about what you want to share with the masses.  A great place to gather knowledge is ezinearticles.com!  If you want you can also visit some forums and ask specific questions.  You’re guaranteed to get some great answers in the forums.

Step 3- Start sharing your knowledge.  Write articles, post in forums, share on Facebook or other social networking sites.  You get the idea.  You must go out there and share your knowledge!  The right type of person will come to you wanting to know more.  Just make sure the knowledge you’re sharing is quality, and not just a product promotion.  The product promotion will come later on in the game!

Here’s a hypothetical attraction marketing situation from the real world.  Let’s say you were selling TVs, you would naturally want to learn all about TV specs, prices, qualities, and share with people what they would want to look for in a Quality TV.  Then you could send them to your website where you sell Quality TVs!  When you share the knowledge with the customer first, you’re attracting them to your knowledge.  Once they get a clear picture of what they should be looking for or what they should be doing, it’s very easy to offer them a product that fits their needs.  This is Attraction Marketing in 3 steps!

I know exactly what you’re thinking and feeling right now, because I was there myself once.  I read 3 different books on the topic of attraction marketing, and I thought I had fully understood the concepts and I had a solid game-plan of how I was going to implement them!  The ideas behind attraction marketing seemed so perfect to me, I didn’t know why I hadn’t thought of these core principles myself.  So, here I was Fresh out of reading 3 different books twice and ready to go make the big bucks!

I got out there right away, and posted links to my books, posted banners, wrote articles, press-releases, etc.  You name it, I was out there trying to “attract” people to me by either telling them they needed to read this free book, or trying to sell them a book.  I didn’t know any of them well enough to decide whether they should even be reading these books to begin with, and no one was buying from me.  So, I kept doing the same thing, only I did more of it.  I went on this way for around 2 months when I decided that I was getting nowhere but a few measly e-mail addresses and phone numbers from people who had absolutely no clue who I was.

All of a sudden a light-bulb went off in my head, and I started a new path.  I created a facebook group, and decided I was going to actually start getting people to join my group so that I could e-mail followers of mine about my wonderful products.  Although I had the right idea, that still didn’t work for me.  The day finally came when I truly discovered what attraction marketing was all about, and my life is forever changed.  I now have new people contacting me daily thanking me for my advice and asking me if I can help them with their business.  I’m attracting people to me, which is the whole concept of attraction marketing.

You’re probably wondering what exactly did I start doing that made this sudden change in my success.  I realized that I had learned a great wealth of knowledge about marketing over the past 4-5 months, what to do and also what not to do.  I’d learned places to market, groups to join, people to talk to, tools to use,  and I was keeping all of this knowledge to myself.  That night, I wrote my first e-mail to my group of about 50 people on Facebook, and I ended up having someone ask me for advice.  A few days later this same person bought magnetic sponsoring from me, and I had made my first sale.

It was that same day that I realized I was going to need an easier way to start teaching multiple people without having to continuously write the same e-mails over and over, and hold their hands through the entire process.  I had run into this attraction marketing system a few months earlier and didn’t ever think too much of it until that day.  Of course I had read some of the e-mails I was receiving from the guy who referred me to his system, but I never acted on those e-mails.  I decided it was time.  I took the $1 test-drive for 2 weeks, and began marketing myself and my knowledge using this system.  I’ve made more money in the past 2 weeks at home than I had in the past month and a half working a full-time job.

In conclusion, any of these books that is teaching you the secrets of attraction marketing is 100% accurate with that being the way to massive success online.  The only issue is that a lot of people get lost in what their true course should be!  What these people don’t realize is that if they’re still running around pushing a book in people’s faces, they’re no better than they were pushing their opportunity at everyone.  What they should really be doing is sharing their accumulated knowledge of internet marketing with people!
