The Best Internet Marketing Success Tool Ever

by jordan on June 25, 2010

I’ve been away for awhile.  My brother Ryan was in town for my brother Jason’s Birthday, and Father’s Day.  So I took a week off to spend time with family.

So I was at my Grandma’s House the other day with my brother Ryan, and we were working on a really old reel-to-reel video projector.  She had some old reels of film that she wanted to view and see if they were even worth saving, and she had no clue how to set this video projector up.  That was something my grandpa had always done, and he never showed her how to do it before he passed.

You can imagine how well my brother and I were figuring this thing out, being that we have ipods, ipads, and videos on our cell phones.  We kept telling my grandma that she should just get an Ipod and put it all on there.

Although this task seemed pretty improbable for us to figure out, we were pretty determined to get it done.  Once we began setting it up, we just couldn’t stop.  That’s kind of the way we are.  Now I’m getting to the point of my whole story here.

We didn’t have directions, so we  turned to the best internet marketing success tool EVER.

We searched for directions on setting up this particular model video projector, and wouldn’t you know it a how-to video came up on Youtube that literally walked us through step-by-step of setting this thing up.  Of course they made it look easy in the video.

Anyways, my point is that we live in the information and technology age, and practically anything we want to know is at our fingertips… LITERALLY.

Take this same tool we used…GOOGLE… and use the Heck out of it when you’re stuck on something in your business.  If you don’t know something, search for it. You’re an entrepreneur, and my real point is that if people are constantly asking their sponsors every little question that comes up, how the heck are the sponsors ever going to have time to build their businesses??

If you don’t have a large team below you right now, you will at some point, and you’ll realize how little time you actually have for 1-on-1 time with each person on a daily basis.  For this reason you should become very comfortable with Google yourself, so you can pass the same principles on to your team members.

To Your Success,

Don’t Think By Yourself: Create A Mastermind Group To Think For You

P.S.  I remember 1 time I had to Learn how to do something on my own, because I couldn’t afford to pay anyone to do it for me… I spent over 14 hours in a row searching Google and reading articles, watching videos, and messing with my blog to fix the problem… I finally found a solution after 14 hours.

P.P.S.  I Would Love to Hear Your Story about Using GOOGLE for something that seemed impossible, and probably was pretty close to it…  Tell me your stories in a comment.

Sure thing Jordan, I agree with you. I am still spending hours and hours on the net , trying to figure out things on my own, I mean its hard way but the best way.. There are some thing of course when I need some questions answered from more experienced marketers, but everything I can I do on my own. Besides, thats why websites and blogs are for, so that people can go there and learn everything about our work, grab some tools we exposed in our posts and not to call us one-on -one and ask : ” Whats this all about?” Well go there and read, thats why it exists, for people to read and learn..

Thanks for pointing this out,
Milena

Awesome. Awesome. It's amazing I wrote a similar post about 2 weeks ago and just posted it today. I live on Google. If I want to find out anything, I Google! Google is a verb to me. Great post man.

Yep… Google is a verb… “ah… you're looking for something, Just Google it!”

Some people look at me funny when I say that!

Jordan Schultz June 25, 2010 at 1:39 PM

Yes Milena,

that's why people like you and me and tons of others spend so much time putting how-to videos and blog posts together… So people who need the information can search google, and find our blog posts.

Hey Jordan. What a great post! I am of the generation that didn’t even have computers let alone know what Google is!! Over the last year I’ve come to realize how important Google is! Thanks for the reminder! You will be pleased to hear that I have launched my own blog!! It’s not as cool as your groovy blog but at least it’s a start. The next thing I have to learn is how to link blogs together…oh yes…I’ll probably have to Google that!! Here’s the link and it would be great if you took a peek at it when you have the time to make a comment! http://cathysugden.ning.com/
I’d appreciate that.

Right on. It is important to be resourceful and be able to find the answers you need.

My repaired airplanes and other machinery in the navy. One of the most important things they taught in training is how to find the answers in the book. They didn’t expect you to memorize how to do everything, they expected you to be able to do your own research to find your solutions.

In this industry, as with any other, when you need directions, there is not always someone to ask. Everyone is building their own business and doesn’t have the time to work on everybody else’s.

By the way, Jordan, can you spend a few hours to show me how to use Google? ;-)

Hi Jordan,

I use Google as a first point of reference for anything followed closely bu YouTube depending on what I am looking for. We literally do have information at our fingertips these days.

Jordan
This is so true sometimes the simplest things allude us. We are so caught up in trying to fix something that we forget we don’t have to limit ourselves to just our knowledge but there is a wealth of knowledge right there a click away.
I bet you someone reads this who has taking for granted and pretty much forgotten about google because they were so caught up in trying to figure it out themselves and this post helps them. Thanks for making us back up and think about a great tool we really have here.

I use google to find recipes.

After I returned from my trip to Thailand I was really missing green curry chicken. I did a quick search on google, found a video demonstration, and now I make it on a regular basis.

Trust me, before I did a search I had no idea what the “green” was in the recipe. It would have been impossible for me to even guess at it :)

Great You have a blog now Cathy… Stop by the Tribe and share some posts!!! Looking forward to it.

I agree Tyson… I would never be able to remember everything… but to be able to find where the information is…

Henry Ford always said ” I don't have to know everything, I just have to pay people to know what I don't know.” something like that!

I don't search Youtube Much… That's a great Idea though. Thanks!

Jordan Schultz July 4, 2010 at 8:34 AM

That's Awesome Peter… So what is the “Green”???

Cara Oberfoell July 6, 2010 at 1:50 AM

If you don't know it, Google it! That's my motto! (or at least one of them:) Great point that it is important to teach your down line to find answers for themselves! It is far more rewarding for them when they answer their own questions.

The old saying goes…”Teach a man to fish…”

Jordan Schultz July 6, 2010 at 9:36 AM

I love that saying… in fact I just heard it a few hours ago, that's awesome that you wrote it on my blog now Cara.
