Will you let an obstacle such as money get in your way of success?
I’ve just begun reading what I believe, and have been told by countless people, will be the secrets that will change the course of my life forever. The book I’m reading now is “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, and I’ll be sharing some great insights from “Think and Grow Rich” and my take on them over the next month or so! As of right now I’ve only read 30 pages of the book, but I can clearly see what the secret is to success in any area of one’s life. It is so lightly spoken of, that only those who are searching for it will actually find it in the pages of “Think and Grow Rich”!
Here’s a paragraph from the books opening chapter, and My take on it! The chapter is called The Man who “thought” his way into partnership with Thomas A Edison. When this desire, or impulse of thought, first flashed into his mind he was in no position to act upon it. Two difficulties stood in his way. He did not know Mr. Edison, and he did not have enough money to pay his railroad fare to Orange, New Jersey. (This very man became a multi-millionaire as a salesman for Thomas Edison in years to come!)
The man whom this is about isn’t as important as the principle that should be gained from what he achieved even though he had Major obstacles in his way! An average person having such great thoughts of success and achievement would usually be put off by complications of this magnitude, but to someone who holds the secret, nothing will put them off from achieving the results they want to in life. The point being this man had a definite goal in his mind, and he was not going to stop short of that goal if it took him his whole entire life to achieve it.
How does this translate into your life? This is one of the main reasons why you must choose your goals and your reasons why you want to start your own business, and make sure that you are very clear about them when you choose them. You must write these goals and reasons why down and go through them daily! You must stop at nothing until these goals are achieved. Here’s another quote directly from Napoleon Hill, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve!”
Without having a definite purpose for your life and your work, you will be likely to give up when you run into an obstacle. Some seem so great and unachievable to us, but to someone with a definite purpose, they will simply overcome whatever obstacle gets in their way. No matter what your goals are, I want you to write them down NOW, keep them with you and stop at NOTHING to get them accomplished. This man’s thoughts of success literally allowed him to “Think and Grow Rich”. WILL YOU??
